Re: new parent here of a 2 week pld girl need advice
Fri, March 31, 2006 - 5:37 AMI don't really recall how long it took for the cord to fall off (motherhood seems to have taken a toll on my memory) but just keep it clean, let it air dry after baths, it's like a scab so it will fall off when it's ready.

Re: new parent here of a 2 week pld girl need advice
Sat, April 1, 2006 - 7:02 AMI think it will take a couple of weeks for the cord to fall off. Like the other poster said, just keep it clean by using a q-tip with alcohol on it and let it air dry. After the cord falls off, you can then give your little one her first bath. -

Re: new parent here of a 2 week pld girl need advice
Mon, April 3, 2006 - 6:13 PMit can take anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. keep it dry and out of the diaper, and it should fall off before too long. how is motherhood treating you so far? -

Re: new parent here of a 2 week pld girl need advice
Sun, June 4, 2006 - 7:48 PMAlcohol on a q-tip, like someone mentioned will help it dry quicker. I know it is irritating having this thing hanging off, and getting in the way of diapers and such. I think my daughter took about 2 weeks before it fell off. -

Re: new parent here of a 2 week pld girl need advice
Sun, June 4, 2006 - 7:53 PMJust fold the diaper down in front before actually closing the tab. Then as mentioned before clean her tummy button with alcohol, a couple of times a day. Make sure to get "in" and around as much as you can. Not only will it prevent infection, but it will also get it to heal quicker. If you have more questions, be sure to ask.

Re: new parent here of a 2 week pld girl need advice
Fri, May 4, 2007 - 9:48 AMno, no! alcohol is a preservative and will actually make it stay on longer! try powdered goldenseal and it will fall off within a couple days.
